Life Guards The Dragoon Regiment has been leading its history since April 3, 1814, when L-gv was formed from the particularly distinguished officers and lower ranks of the army cavalry. Horse-Jaeger Regiment. April 3, 1833, he was renamed the L-gv. Dragunsky. From February 9, 1909 to March 4, 1917, the chief of the regiment was Her Imp. Highness Leaded. Princess Maria Pavlovna. Before the First World War, the regiment was stationed in Peterhof.
 
The Russo-Japanese War and the Revolution of 1905 led to a serious reorganization of the army. At the same time, there was a complete overhaul of all troops in a new parade form. In connection with the 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812, guardsmen received a shako similar to that worn by Russian troops in that era. Officer's shako was covered with cloth of "royal" color, on the silver double-headed eagle was placed an overhead Andreevskaya star. Cords are silver filigree, white sultan. The uniform of the "royal" (blue-green) color with scarlet collar, lapels and cuffs. The metal device is silver. The trousers are blue, with scarlet piping.
August 1914 put an end to this splendor, changing the troops into a field-shaped protective color.
