EK castings N56 - Private cuirassier regiment. France, 1809-15
French cuirassiers were a kind of heavy cavalry, operating exclusively in a closed horse ranks. Since their main task was a crushing attack and a breakthrough of the front line, cuirassiers received reliable steel cuirasses and helmets.
The helmet had a black fur band and a tail of horsehair. The figure comb, the chin scales and the rim of the visor were made of yellow copper. The cuirassa was completed with copper overlapping scales on a red lining and dark red cloth cuffs with a white border. The dark blue single-breasted uniform had tin buttons and red epaulettes. After 1809, there were 14 cuirassier regiments in the French army, which differed in color from the color of collars, cuffs, valves, piping and flaps. Red applied color had 1, 2 and 3-rd shelves; orange - 4, 5 and 6; yellow - 7, 8 and 9; pink - 10, 11 and 12th; Bordeaux - 13th and 14th regiments. All the regiments had a blue piping on their collar and blue grenades on the folds of the folds. The black cartridge luggage was worn on a white leather sling. A brass hilt with a brass hilt had a white leather lambskin and steel sheath. During the campaign, the white cayloths were replaced by gray cloth pants on the side tightening buttons.
