John (Jean) II Good (Jean II Le Bon, 1319-1364) - the second king of France of the Valois houses in 1350, succeeded his father, Philip VI.
John came of age in 1332 and took the title of Duke of Normandy, as well as the county of Anjou and Maine County. In the same year, just after her wedding the young bride was knighted in the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. Having ascended in 1350 to the French throne and married second marriage to the widow of Philip of Burgundy, he introduced the direct royal control in the Duchy of Burgundy. During the Hundred Years' War, a small British Army Prince of Wales (the Black Prince, son of King Edward III) routed the French army at the Battle of Poitiers.
