EK Castings M255 - Artilleryman with ammunition box. West.. Europe - 15th century
By the end of the 15th century the army of the leading European powers possessed a sufficiently large number of guns of different caliber of cast iron, copper, bronze and iron, firing stone, iron and lead nuclei. Almost every gun had its own caliber and its own name. This gunner was good to know, "temper" their guns. Professional Gunners themselves take care of the supply of ammunition, which was prepared in advance of the desired caliber of the core and the required amount of powder dispensed for each charge in canvas bags. Calibrated core caps with powder charge and the wick skein was placed in a wooden box. Such individual ammunition were taken during field guns to be able to immediately start shooting.
