Livjægerkorpset
King's Volunteers, as they just called colloquially, was formed in late March 1801, when Denmark faced a hostile English attack during the Napoleonic Wars . This attack, which led to wars with England , happened to the Battle of Copenhagen 2. april 1801 . The Corps got Royal Assent on April 15 . The laws decreed that it should consist of four companies , each of which urgently need to be brought up to 100 men. The members were unpaid and had to pay for uniforms, but the king gave them, however, weapons and gunpowder.
Livjægerne distinguished himself several times. The first time, when on 31. august 1807 under the command of its commander, Gen. Frederik Conrad von Holstein , courageously took a stand against an extra English enemy outcome through Kastelsporten to Classen's Garden . For this effort, the king gave the corps privileges and raised it with Guard rank. It gave its officers rank in line with line officers, and these were further - as the only ones in borgerkorpsene - the right to call themselves " von ".
