N44 - Régiment of the light horses, Officer - France
In 1811, the Emperor Napoleon ordered the creation of cavalry regiments of the Luzhovo chevalier, armed with peaks. Six French regiments under the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 were organized through the rearmament of 1, 3, 8, 9, 10 and 29 dragoon regiments. All the regiments took part in a military campaign to Russia in 1812. Squadrons of the 1 st, 2 nd, 4 th and 5 th regiments were included as scouts and skirmishers in the cuirassier divisions of the 1st and 2nd cavalry corps of the reserve cavalry of Murat. Three squadrons of the 6th Shevoledzher regiment were part of the cavalry of the III Corps of Ney (attached to the 2nd corps of Murat's cavalry). The 3rd Regiment was part of the 3rd Cuirassier Division, which operated as part of the II Corps of Udino in the Polotsk area.
n 1812 the French regiments of light cavalry consisted of four operating and one spare squadrons. The regimental headquarters consisted of 11 officers: 1 colonel, 1 major (chief of the regimental depot), 2 chiefs of the squadron (corresponding to lieutenant colonels), 2 senior adjutants (in the rank of captain), 1 quartermaster-treasurer (captain), 1 senior surgeon and 3 assistant. The officers of the company included four officers (1 captain, 1 lieutenant and 2 sub-lieutenants). The eight mouths of the cavalry regiment were distributed in pairs in squadrons: in the first squadron - 1st (elite) and 5th companies, in the second - 2nd and 6th, in the third - 3rd and 7th, in the fourth - 4th and 8th. The captains commanded the companies, and the lieutenants were considered their deputies. The squadron was commanded by one of the two company captains, who had seniority in terms of seniority.
The uniform of the French chauffeurs-lancers was a jacket of green cloth with straight lapels, pointed cuffs and short coats with pockets "a la Subis". Collar, lapels, cuffs, flaps and folds on pocket valves were of distinctive color: scarlet in the 1st regiment, light orange in the 2nd, pink in the 3rd, crimson in the 4th, blue in the 5th, red - in the 6th regiment. Officers had gilded buttons, epaulettes and badges of eagles on the flaps of the folds. The green chakchirs with hussar-style boots had a rope-like bang in the form of a "Hungarian knot" in the 1st, 2nd and 4th regiments, and in the form of "peaks" - in the 3rd, 5th and 6th regiments . (In the campaign, green or gray trousers with stripes and buttons were worn).
The gilded officer's helmet had a leopard band-turban and differed from the dragoon black cocoon-like comb and the image on the front strip of the socle of the crossed Lancers peak. The sultan is red. Belt saber sword and cartridge pouch with a bandage could be made of raspberry or black leather with gilded fittings. The saber in the steel scabbard had a gilded hilt and a gold lambskin.
