M266 - Artilleryman - XVs

ref. EK Castings M266

EK Castings M266 - Artilleryman with a ruff. Zap. Europe, 15th century

The robber was used in muzzle-loading artillery systems. With its help, the powder charge and core were sent through the channel of the barrel to the stop and compacted (nailed) in the breech.
The robber was a long stick with a knob, acting like a piston.
The artilleryman wears a quilted jamboree without sleeves. The hands are protected by steel shoulder pads, elbow pads, handcuffs and plated gloves. With such protection, the Gunner hopes to save his hands from an accidental shot, which could occur due to premature ignition of the charge from the smoldering remains of the previous one. This could happen because of poor barrel probing. On the head of the artilleryman there is a helmet with a reinforced forehead salad. Armpits are covered with steel rosettes. From weapons: a short sword of Switzerland and a dagger. On the belt is a leather bag.
