Scandinavian expression "to go to the Vikings" meant "a journey in search of wealth and glory." In the IX century the Scandinavian kings and influential clan chiefs gathered groups of several hundred people, to organize an expedition to conquer new lands. Such army invaded neighboring countries, using large fleets of hundreds of rooks. Some Vikings became professional fighters.
